Project backgrounds:
The DCS has implemented the Statistical Capacity Upgrading Project (STATCAP Project), under the Public Sector Capacity Building Project of the government of Sri Lanka (GOSL), with the assistance of the World Bank (WB). The total cost of this STATCAP Project is US$ 14.05 million. The two key components of the STATCAP Project are the construction of a new building for the DCS and professional development of the DCS staff.
The DCS invites applications from qualified persons for the post of Project Management Assistant for the Project Management Unit (PMU) to be employed initially for a period of one year on renewable contract basis.
The specific responsibilities of the PMA are as follows:
- assist to drive day-to-day project activities through the application of sound Project Management principles and methodologies
- assist the Procurement Management and Financial management functions
- assist the development of a project action plan
- assist the preparation of technical and financial assessments and action plans
- assist the preparation of project progress Reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes and reporting the implementing progress to WB
- responsible for the preparation of audit and various other reports of the project
- responsible for the maintenance and upgrading of the project inventory
Qualification
The candidate should pass the GCE A/L examination and obtained six passes with four credits (including credits for Mathematics and English) at the GCE O/L examination. Applicants should have working experience in a computer based environment and also should be fluent in English. Preference will be given to those who have similar experience in working with the GOSL or foreign funded projects.

Remuneration:
Salary for the above position will be within the provisions of the Management Services Circular No. 33 of the 5th April 2007 and 33 (1) of 20thDecember 2007.
